Get to Know Me

Hi, I’m Julieanna Jackson, the morning reporter for Good Day Austin on FOX 7 Austin. I’m originally from Mize, Mississippi, and graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in Law. As a first-generation college graduate, earning my degree remains one of my proudest accomplishments.

My passion for storytelling began at Ole Miss, where I anchored and reported for the student-run newscast NewsWatch. I covered stories ranging from the growth of sports betting on college campuses to the impact of fentanyl on local families. Those experiences strengthened my commitment to journalism that informs, connects, and serves the communities I cover.

After graduation, I moved to Central Texas and began my professional career at KCEN Channel 6 News, where I worked as a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor. During my two years at KCEN, I covered breaking news, public safety, military and community stories across Central Texas, while learning to do just about everything along the way, from pitching and shooting to writing, editing, producing, and reporting live.

In September 2026, I joined FOX 7 Austin as the morning reporter for Good Day Austin. You can find me out across the Austin area each morning, covering the stories people are waking up to, from breaking news and developing stories to the people and places that make Central Texas unique. 

No matter the story, my goal is the same: to report with accuracy, compassion, and curiosity while keeping the people at the heart of the story.

Outside the newsroom, I love traveling, spending time with my dog, Zoey, and meeting new people. I’m grateful for the experiences that helped shape my path, including my involvement with ESPN College GameDay, Delta Gamma, Panhellenic, and the Talbert Fellows.
